Nexo policies & information

Privacy Policy

Nexo is a college community for friends, groups, and campus conversations. This policy explains how information is used when you visit or use Nexo.

Last updated: October 2026

1. Who to contact

Nexo operates this service. For privacy questions or requests concerning your information, contact nexo.service@outlook.com.

2. Information we collect

Account information includes your college email, account identifier, authentication information, signup date, and college affiliation derived from your .edu domain. Profile information you provide may include name, age, gender, photos, school year, major, bio, interests, hobbies, and friendship preferences.

We store activity needed to operate the service, including likes and passes, matches, messages, group memberships and chats, posts, comments, reactions, blocks, reports, and support correspondence. Subscription records may include payment-customer and subscription identifiers, plan, status, and billing-period dates.

Technical information may include browser and device details, network information such as IP addresses, request logs, and error or performance diagnostics. To confirm every member is a real student aged 18 or older, Nexo collects a selfie, a photo of a government-issued ID, and your date of birth. These are stored privately, may be checked by an automated AI photo comparison, and are seen only by Nexo moderators — never by other students. You may cover your ID number and address.

3. Why we use information

We use information to create and secure accounts, associate students with their college community, display profiles and posts, apply preferences, connect matches, deliver messages, operate groups and the feed, administer subscriptions, provide support, investigate abuse, and maintain the service.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, processing may be necessary to provide the service, meet legal obligations, protect legitimate interests such as safety and security, or act on consent where required.

4. What other students can see

Your college email is not displayed to other students. Profile details and photos you choose to share may be visible to eligible students at your own college only. Messages are visible to participants, and group content is visible according to group access rules.

Anonymous campus posts hide your name from other students, but remain associated with your account internally for service operation and safety. They are not untraceable to Nexo or exempt from lawful requests. Avoid posting details that could identify you or someone else.

Other users may copy or screenshot information they can see. Blocking and deletion cannot retrieve copies already made outside Nexo.

5. Service providers and other disclosures

Service providers process information needed for hosting, account authentication, data and photo storage, email delivery, and diagnostics. Stripe processes Premium checkout and subscription payments; payment-card information entered at checkout is handled by Stripe rather than stored as full card details in Nexo profiles. Provider processing is also governed by their applicable privacy terms.

We may disclose relevant information when required by valid legal process, to address serious safety risks as permitted by law, prevent fraud or abuse, or protect legal rights. If the service changes ownership, information may be transferred subject to applicable law and appropriate privacy protections.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not publish college emails or offer student email lists to other students.

6. Cookies, browser storage, and external resources

Nexo uses cookies or browser storage to maintain authentication sessions and preferences such as the selected theme. These are needed for the signed-in experience. External resources such as web fonts may send technical request information to their provider when loaded.

You can remove cookies and site storage through your browser, but doing so may sign you out or reset preferences. Nexo does not currently provide a separate advertising-cookie control panel.

7. Retention, deletion, and security

Information is retained as needed to provide the service and for legitimate safety, billing, dispute, and legal requirements. Retention depends on the information and circumstances; this policy does not promise one fixed retention period for every record.

You can edit your profile, delete supported content, and request account deletion from Settings. Account deletion removes your profile and associated service data through the deletion process. Backups, security logs, legally required records, payment-provider records, or copies held by other users may not disappear at the same time. Cancel Premium separately before deleting your account.

Access controls and restricted storage help protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Keep your password private and report suspected unauthorized access.

8. Your privacy choices and rights

Use Settings to update your profile and preferences, block or unblock students, or delete your account. You can also contact nexo.service@outlook.com to request access, correction, deletion, a copy of your information, or to raise a privacy concern. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Depending on your location, you may have additional rights, including objection to or restriction of processing, portability, withdrawal of consent, or a complaint to a privacy regulator. Applicable legal requirements and exceptions determine how requests are handled.

9. Age and international processing

Nexo is intended only for college students aged 18 or older. College-email signup does not independently prove age. If you believe a minor has an account, report it or contact support so we can investigate.

Your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. Their privacy laws may differ from those where you live; applicable legal requirements govern any required transfer safeguards.

10. Policy updates

We may update this policy as the service changes and provide notice of material changes where required. See the Terms & Conditions and Law Enforcement Protocols for related information.
